Get answers to common questions about Rough Dry.
A Rough Dry uses a blow dryer, fingers, or a basic brush to quickly remove moisture and rough-shape hair. It’s ideal to speed up service, prep hair for precise styling, or refresh slightly damp hair without a full blowout.
Typically it takes 10–20 minutes depending on hair length, thickness, and initial wetness. Shorter or fine hair finishes faster; longer or dense hair requires more time. It’s designed as a quick prep step before detailed styling.
Not if performed correctly. Stylists use moderate heat and brief drying with fingers or a basic brush. To prevent damage, use thermal protectant, avoid excessive high heat, and schedule deep conditioning if hair feels dry from frequent blow-drying.
Yes. Rough Dry is safe for color-treated hair when done gently with temperature control and protectant products. Our stylists minimize heat exposure to help preserve color vibrancy and recommend color-safe shampoos and regular conditioning to maintain hair health.
It’s optional. Slightly damp, towel-dried hair works best; if your hair is very dirty or heavy with product, washing helps. If you prefer, our salon can wash or refresh hair before the Rough Dry for optimal results.
A Rough Dry is faster and uses lower heat to remove moisture and loosely shape hair. A full blowout is more thorough, involving round-brush techniques, higher heat, and longer time to create a smooth, long-lasting polished finish.
